Tale Hungnes is our new leader

We look forward to Tale Hungnes (47) taking over the leadership in August.

Hungnes comes from the position of international director at the humanitarian organisation Caritas Norway.
– In a dark time when much is at stake, Future in Our Hands works with the solutions. They challenge politicians and inspire individuals to do more for the environment and justice. Contributing to this is meaningful, says Hungnes.
Hungnes says that working for spesific political change is what motivates her to lead Norway’s largest environmental organisation.
– I look forward to leading a team of highly skilled employees and getting to know the committed volunteers who stand up for the environment and justice, says Hungnes.
Hungnes has over 20 years of experience in politics and advocacy work, both in Norway and internationally.
– Climate change is happening here and now. I have seen livelihoods destroyed due to both drought and flooding, for example in South Sudan and Colombia. The climate crisis affects people unequally, and we need to change that. Environment and justice are two sides of the same coin, says Hungnes.
Chairman Håvard B. Øvregård highlights the need for political change in the coming years as a reason for choosing Hungnes.
– In the years ahead, we must secure support for new, lasting societal changes that reduce overconsumption and global inequality. Tale Hungnes, with her broad expertise and experience as both a leader and spokesperson, has the background our new leader needs for this work. We are very pleased that she has accepted this challenge.
Hungnes will assume the position during August. In the meantime, Ingrid Næss-Holm is serving as acting leader of Future in Our Hands.
