The NorWatch project is now entering its fifth year, and if we should sum up our activity so far, we must conclude that the necessity of focusing on Norwegian business life in the South has not decreased during this period of time.

The 1990s will probably appear as the period of Norwegian history when trades and industries were really tempted to go abroad to make profits. The reasons for this were the economic boom, and the competence which we have acquired through oil extraction in the North Sea. In this field Norwegian business life has not been different from the rest of the world: the 1990s have become the decade of globalisation. Irrespective of the view one has on the globalisation, it is a fact that it does create a need for an even stronger co-operation between environmental and human rights organisations across national borders.

FIOH is doing their utmost when it comes to financing the NorWatch project. In addition, as we categorically refuse support from commercial interests, we have had to rely on more sporadic support from individuals, organisations, and other milieus that are satisfied with the work we do.

With this issue we therefore enclose a pay-in slip that you can use , if you would like to support the project financially.
